COMMON ADMISSION TEST(CAT) FOR BEGINNERS

WHAT IS CAT:
CAT is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), considered to be the most prestigious B-schools of India. It is an entrance exam for students who want to pursue Post Graduate level Management Degree from world renowned IIM’s.



 
HOW AND WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE CONDUCTED:
CAT 2009 is going to be held online on the computer without internet through prometric centeres in the month of November/December over a period of 10 days.


EXAM PATTERN:
CAT is multiple-choice based entrance exam, with negative marking for wrong answers. It comprises of three sections,
     1. Quantitative Ability
     2. Data Interpretation.
     3. English (Verbal/Reading Comprehension)
which span the domains of arithmetical problem solving, geometry, statistics, data interpretation, logical reasoning, puzzles, and English language skills. Every year, changes are also made in the total number of questions and the time duration of CAT.


WHAT IS THIS CAT EXAM FOR ?
Performance in Common Admission Test or CAT, followed by Group Discussions and Personal Interviews, serves as the basis for admission into the IIM's. Apart from the IIM's, a candidate can take admission in many other business schools with a CAT score. 


WHAT ARE IIM'S ?
The IIM's are considered to be the top business schools in India.The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), are graduate  business schools in India that also conduct research and provide consultancy services in the field of management to various sectors of the Indian economy.
